Elementa

Elementa hands you three elemental blocks at a time and an eight-by-eight board. There is no rotating and no gravity — what you drop is exactly where it stays, forever, which makes every placement permanent in a way most block puzzles are not.

Fill a full row or column and it clears. Fill one where every single cell is the same element and you get an Elemental Clear, worth considerably more. Chain clears back to back and a combo builds, with named tiers at three, six and ten.

The run ends the moment none of your three blocks fits anywhere on the board. There is no timer — you lose to your own earlier decisions.

How to play

  1. Three blocks are offered at a time.
  2. Drag each one onto the 8x8 board. No rotation, no gravity.
  3. Complete a full row or column to clear it.
  4. Complete one where every cell is the same element for an Elemental Clear.
  5. Clear on consecutive placements to build a combo.
  6. The run ends when none of your three blocks fits.

Scoring and XP

How to get better at Elementa

Protect the middle, fill the edges

A blocked edge costs you one line. A blocked centre costs you every line through it. Push awkward shapes to the borders and keep the middle four columns clean for as long as you can.

Elemental Clears need planning three moves out

You cannot assemble a single-element row by accident. If you want the 8 XP version rather than the 5 XP one, pick a row early, commit to it, and route every matching block into it even when a faster clear is available elsewhere.

Look at all three blocks before placing one

The set is offered together for a reason. Placing the first block without checking whether the third still fits is the single most common way runs end, because there is no gravity to bail you out.

Common questions

Can I rotate the blocks?

No. There is no rotation and no gravity — every block lands exactly as shown and stays exactly where you put it. That permanence is what makes Elementa a planning game rather than a reflex one.

What is an Elemental Clear?

A full row or column where every single cell is the same element. It pays 8 XP against the 5 XP of a normal line clear, and it can only be built deliberately over several turns.
