Foodie
Foodie shows you a photograph of a real dish and asks what it is. Tap the right name from four options and move on. It is the friendliest game in the catalogue to pick up, and the photography does a lot of the work.
The reason to keep playing is Type It mode. Instead of choosing from four, you spell the dish out yourself, and the XP jumps from 20 to 35 a correct answer. It is a completely different level of difficulty for the same round.
How to play
- A photo of a dish appears.
- In standard mode, tap one of four names.
- In Type It mode, type the name yourself.
- Answer before the round timer runs out.
- You have three lives, and the dishes get more obscure as you rank up.
Scoring and XP
- 20 XP per correct answer in choice mode, 35 in Type It mode.
- Rounds per run by rank: 8 at Beginner, 10 at Intermediate and Advanced, 12 at Master.
- Round timer by rank: 15 seconds, 13, 11, then 9 at Master.
- Three lives per run. Four sessions to play.
How to get better at Foodie
Type It is worth the risk
Seventy-five percent more XP for the same round is a large edge. Even if you only get two thirds as many right, you come out ahead — and the mode teaches you the names properly rather than letting you recognise them from a list.
Read the plate, not just the food
Serving style, garnish and crockery narrow a dish down as fast as the food does. Two dishes that look similar in close-up are often unmistakable once you notice what they are served in.
Master rank is nine seconds
At twelve rounds and nine seconds each, Master leaves no room to deliberate in Type It mode. If you are typing, Advanced at eleven seconds is the sweet spot.
Common questions
What is Type It mode?
Instead of picking from four options you spell the dish name yourself, and correct answers pay 35 XP instead of 20. It is much harder and, at 75 percent more XP, usually still the better choice.
Are the photos of real dishes?
Yes, every round shows a photograph of a real dish, and they get more obscure as you climb the ranks. Serving style and crockery often identify a dish faster than the food itself does.
