Hangman
Hangman needs no explanation, which is exactly why it earns its place. A hidden word, a row of blanks, and one letter at a time until you either solve it or run out of lives.
What Chillverse adds is a difficulty ladder with real teeth at the top. Easy pays 8 XP a word. Impossible pays 36. Every word carries a hint, so even the hardest tier is a puzzle rather than a guessing game.
How to play
- Pick a difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard or Impossible.
- A hidden word appears as blanks, with a hint underneath.
- Guess one letter at a time.
- Correct letters fill in every position they occupy.
- Wrong letters cost a life. Three lives per word.
- Clear three words at a tier to complete the set.
Scoring and XP
- XP per word by difficulty: 8 on Easy, 14 on Medium, 22 on Hard, 36 on Impossible.
- Three lives per word, and every wrong letter costs one.
- Three wins are needed to complete a difficulty tier.
- Three sessions per run.
How to get better at Hangman
Vowels first, but not all of them
E, A and O buy you the most information for the least risk. I and U are far more likely to be dead guesses, and at three lives a word you cannot afford two dead guesses in a row.
Read the hint before you guess anything
The hints are written to genuinely narrow the field, not to decorate the screen. On Impossible they are often the difference between a solve and a loss, and people skip them constantly.
Count the blanks
Word length plus one or two revealed letters usually collapses the possibilities to a handful. Once you can see the shape, stop guessing letters by frequency and start guessing the word.
Common questions
Do I get hints?
Every word comes with one. On Easy it is close to giving the answer away; on Impossible it is often the only thing making the word findable at all, and it is the most commonly ignored feature in the game.
Is Impossible worth playing?
At 36 XP a word against 8 on Easy, one Impossible solve is worth four and a half easy ones. With three lives per word and a hint on every one, it is more approachable than the name suggests.
