Liar's Grid
Liar's Grid fills the screen with equations that all look fine at a glance. One of them is not. You have to find it, and the round timer is short enough that checking every cell properly is never an option.
This is a scanning game wearing an arithmetic costume. The maths itself is not hard. Finding which of a dozen correct-looking sums is quietly wrong, in six seconds, is the actual challenge.
How to play
- A grid of equations appears, all but one of them correct.
- Find the incorrect equation and tap it before the round timer expires.
- Correct picks continue the run and build your streak.
- The round count and available operations both shift with rank.
Scoring and XP
- Round time by rank: 10 seconds at Beginner, 8 at Intermediate, 6 at Advanced, 4 at Master.
- XP per correct answer by rank: 15, 17, 19 and 21.
- A streak of 10 multiplies your earnings by 1.5.
- Beginner and Intermediate use addition and subtraction only. Advanced and Master add multiplication, which is where most people start missing things.
How to get better at Liar's Grid
Check the last digit first
You can rule out most equations without computing them at all. If the units digits cannot possibly produce the stated result, it is wrong, and if they can, move on. This is several times faster than actually solving each one.
Scan in a fixed path
Reading the grid in a consistent order — left to right, top to bottom, every time — stops you re-checking cells you have already cleared. Random scanning feels faster and wastes most of the round.
Multiplication rows hide the liar
Once multiplication enters at Advanced, the false equation is almost always a product rather than a sum, because a wrong product is much harder to spot at a glance. Start there when the clock is short.
Common questions
Do I have to check every equation?
No, and you cannot. The round timer is deliberately too short for that. Checking last digits lets you dismiss most cells instantly and spend your remaining seconds on the two or three that survive.
Where is the wrong equation usually hidden?
Once multiplication appears at Advanced rank, the liar is far more often a product than a sum, because a wrong product survives a glance much better. Start with the multiplication cells when time is short.
