Plunder
Plunder is a press-your-luck game about knowing when to stop. Each depth is a grid of buried tiles, and you are told exactly how many of them are cursed. Dig a safe one and it pays doubloons into your hold and pushes your multiplier up. Dig a cursed one and the hold is gone, along with the dive.
You can bank whenever you like, locking in what you are holding and dropping to the next depth — bigger grid, more curses, better loot. There are eight depths, and reaching the wreck floor at the bottom pays a 1,500 surface bonus.
There is deliberately no clock. A timer would make the decision for you, and the decision is the entire game.
How to play
- Each depth shows a grid of buried tiles and tells you how many are cursed.
- Dig tiles to add doubloons to your hold and raise your multiplier.
- Bank at any point to lock your doubloons in and descend.
- A cursed tile takes everything unbanked and ends the dive.
- Depth 8 is the wreck floor — surface from there for the bonus.
Scoring and XP
- The multiplier rises 0.25 per safe dig and caps at 3.5.
- Surfacing from the wreck floor pays a 1,500 bonus.
- A minimum number of digs is required before banking unlocks — 2 at the top depths, rising to 6 at the bottom.
- XP is 16 per chest plus 2 per dig, with 35 more for surfacing, capped at 150.
- Two sessions per dive, with a limit of five dives a day.
How to get better at Plunder
The first dig of a depth is always safe
You are never punished for opening a new depth, so there is no reason to hesitate on the first tile. The real decision starts on the second.
Bank on the multiplier, not the hold
The multiplier caps at 3.5. Once you are at or near it, additional digs add risk without adding rate. That is the natural moment to bank, and most lost dives happen two digs after it.
Count the curses against the grid
You are told the curse count, so the odds are knowable rather than a feeling. Three curses in a large grid is a comfortable dig. Three in a small one is a coin flip, and the deeper grids do exactly that to you.
Common questions
Is Plunder gambling?
No. There is no wager and nothing to buy in — it costs two of your daily sessions like other games, and the doubloons are an in-game score. You are told the exact curse count on every depth, so the odds are visible rather than hidden.
When should I bank?
The multiplier caps at 3.5. Past that point extra digs add risk without adding rate, which makes it the natural stopping line. Most lost dives happen one or two digs after a player reaches it.
