The Last Samurai

The Last Samurai is a shell game with teeth. You are shown a target symbol, the whole board reveals for a heartbeat, then everything flips face down and shuffles across the grid. Your job is to keep your eye on the card you need and tap it when the movement stops.

Two things make it tense. Every wrong card you open stays open, so mistakes accumulate visibly. And somewhere in the deck is a bomb, which ends the run on the spot regardless of how well it was going.

From Intermediate rank up it shows two targets instead of one — either clears the round — but a wrong tap now ends the run exactly like the bomb does.

How to play

  1. A target symbol is shown.
  2. The board reveals every card briefly.
  3. The cards flip face down and shuffle around the grid.
  4. Tap the card holding your target.
  5. Wrong cards stay open for the rest of the round.
  6. Tapping the bomb ends the run immediately.

How to get better at The Last Samurai

Track one card, ignore the board

The shuffle is designed to pull your attention across the whole grid. Lock onto your target the instant it flips and follow only that card. Trying to keep a mental map of everything is how people lose it in the first two swaps.

The fifth round is worth waiting for

The 15 XP bonus lands every fifth cleared round, so a run that ends at round nine is worth a lot less than one that reaches ten. When you are one round from a bonus, take the extra second.

Two targets is easier, not harder

From Intermediate the game shows two acceptable targets. That doubles your chance of holding at least one through the shuffle. Follow whichever one starts nearer the edge — edge cards are shuffled through fewer positions.

Common questions

What does the bomb do?

It ends your run instantly, no matter how many rounds you have cleared. There is no life system and no second chance, which is what gives the shuffle its tension.

Why does it sometimes show two targets?

From Intermediate rank upward the game shows two acceptable targets and tapping either clears the round. In exchange, a wrong tap now ends the run exactly as the bomb does.
