While someone is actively typing in a conversation with you, you'll see a live typing indicator — it clears automatically a few seconds after they stop typing or send their message.
In direct messages, Chillverse also shows whether your message has been read by the other person, based on when they last opened that specific conversation. This read status only applies to one-on-one DMs, not Global Chat, since there's no single "read" moment that would make sense in a conversation with many people at once.
