Your username is your name tag in Chillverse. Pick a good one, because you will see it on leaderboards, in chats and on your profile for a long time.
Username rules
- 3 to 20 characters
- Letters, numbers, underscores (_) and hyphens (-) only
- It cannot start or end with an underscore or hyphen
- No spaces, emojis or fancy symbols
- A few words are reserved, like admin, moderator, support and chillverse, so you cannot use those
- Offensive names are blocked, and pretending to be someone else is not allowed
{{callout:gold:AlertTriangle}} You can only change your username once every 30 days. So no, you cannot rename yourself every morning to keep people guessing. Choose carefully.
Display name vs username
They are two different things:
- Username: unique to you. Nobody else can have the same one.
- Display name: the friendlier name people see on your profile. It does not have to be unique, so you can use spaces, capital letters and your nickname.
You set your display name during sign up and you can edit it later from your profile.
Tips for a good username
- Keep it short enough to type with one thumb.
- Avoid your phone number, address or anything you would not want strangers to know.
- Skip names that look like staff or officials, they get flagged.
- Numbers are fine, but 14 numbers after your name looks like a robot sneezed.
Changing it later
Go to You, open Settings, then Account. If you changed your username recently, the page tells you how many days are left before you can change it again.
{{callout:blue:Info}} Your name is already taken? Try adding a number or a word that fits you, like your favourite game. You will find one that sticks.
