Halo in Chat works best when you keep it simple. Below is what it can do and some phrases that work. You do not need the exact words, but they are a good place to start.
{{callout:blue:Info}} New to Halo? Read Meet Halo: the two sides explained first, so you know which Halo you are talking to.
Checking things (Halo just looks, nothing changes)
Your rank
Try: "my rank", "how do I rank up" or "next rank". Halo tells you your current tier, how much XP you need for the next one, and shows a rank card.
Your wallet
Try: "my wallet" or "my balance". You get your Diamonds and Orbs at a glance.
Your activity
Try: "my activity", "play time" or "my streak". Halo shows how long you have played this week, how many sessions, your streak, and a small chart of the last 7 days.
Your latest post
Try: "my last post". Halo finds your most recent post and gives you a link to it.
Your PvP status
Try: "my pvp" or "pvp stats". You will see your health, kills and where you sit on the kill board.
An achievement
Try: "how do I unlock" followed by the achievement name. Halo tells you what it takes and whether you already have it. It needs the real achievement name to answer, so type it as it appears on the Achievements page.
Your username
Try: "what is my username".
What is popular in the Mall
Try: "what is the most bought item". Halo tells you the current top seller and links you to it.
Doing things (Halo asks you to confirm first)
Change your username
- Say "change my username".
- Halo asks what you want it to be. Type the name.
- Halo checks the rules and whether it is free.
- If it is free, a card appears. Tap Confirm to switch, or ignore it to keep your old one.
If you changed your username less than 30 days ago, Halo tells you how many days are left. Halo uses the same rules as Settings, so see Choosing your username and display name for the details.
Browse the Mall
Try: "what can I buy", "what is new in the mall" or "show me the mall". Halo shows items from the Mall and marks which ones you can afford. Want to plan a budget? Add a number, like "what can I buy with 500 diamonds".
Buy something
When Halo shows you Mall items, each one has a buy button. Tap it to buy. If you do not have enough Diamonds or Orbs, Halo tells you.
Register for Elimination Weekend
Try: "register me for elimination weekend". Halo shows the event card. If registration is open and you are not signed up yet, tap the button to register. If you are already in, Halo says so.
Casual stuff
Halo also does a little light chat. Say hi, ask for a game suggestion by name or type, share a win or a loss, or mention rank and missions and it will answer in kind. It is not a full conversation partner though, so do not expect it to remember what you said yesterday.
{{callout:gold:AlertTriangle}} Halo cannot do everything. It cannot refund purchases, unban accounts, recover a hacked account or change your email. For those, use Submit a request at the top of the Help Center.
If Halo does not understand
- Use shorter, plainer wording, like "my wallet" instead of a whole sentence.
- Check the spelling, especially achievement names.
- If it says it cannot help with something, try the Help Center search instead.
{{callout:green:Lightbulb}} Halo never judges your questions. Ask it about your rank ten times a day if you like, it will not get tired or roll its eyes.
